A day excursion between heritage, culture and the banks of the Tarn

Albi, a must-see town in the Tarn

About an hour's drive from Revel, Albi is an ideal destination for a day excursion during your stay at the Hôtel Restaurant du Midi.

Between heritage, culture and a walk along the Tarn, Albi offers a wonderful glimpse of the South-West.

Sainte-Cécile Cathedral

Sainte-Cécile Cathedral is certainly Albi's most iconic monument.

Built from the 13th century onward, this striking brick cathedral has the appearance of a true fortress. Inside, it reveals a remarkably rich decor, with numerous paintings and outstanding works of art.

It towers over the town and is an essential stop on any visit to Albi.

The Palais de la Berbie and the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum

Right next to the cathedral stands the Palais de la Berbie, the former residence of the bishops of Albi.

This imposing fortress is now home to the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum, dedicated to the famous painter born in Albi. The museum houses one of the largest collections devoted to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

The gardens of the Palais de la Berbie also offer a beautiful view over the Tarn.

Exploring Albi's historic centre

After the major landmarks, take time to wander through the streets of the historic centre. The brick houses, old façades, narrow lanes and small squares reveal another side of Albi. The stroll can continue as far as the Pont Vieux, one of the town's iconic monuments. From its banks, the view over the Tarn, the Palais de la Berbie and the episcopal city is particularly lovely.
